Today our Words of Wisdom artwork comes from Fred Butler…enjoy!
Describe a bit about yourself and your work?  I’m an accessories designer on a mission to brighten up the urban landscape and spirits of the world with fun wearable sculptures. I also write a blog to share the work of my collaborators and creative community.
What are your words of wisdom and why?It was a text message from my dad that really touched me at the time and has stayed with me ever since, “Enjoy the moment and u will always treasure the memory”.
I have a very positive, optimistic outlook and I think it’s from his mantra of never taking anything for granted and appreciating the best in every situation. In this instance it was one of the best experiences and I’ll always remember it.
Who is your role-model?Well, following on from that, my dad jointly with my mum.  My dad is the most patient, conscientious and caring person to an inordinately and inspiring level.  My mum has a relentless joy, drive and a weird next level insight into humanity which I can always quiz when life throws a curve ball. They are also very connected with nature; how basic occurrences and shifts in the seasons trigger different aspects in culture. I have so much to learn!
Upcoming projects?Childline are celebrating their 25th anniversary by asking artists, fashion and graphic designers to customise a classic BT phonebox across London to coincide with The Olympics and Jublilee.  I’m getting my mitts on one of the centrally located boxes so keep your eye out (www.btartbox.com).
Im also doing an accessories workshop at The Barbican as part of their upcoming Bauhaus exhibition.

Launched in 2011 by Teo Connor and Loren Platt on the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, the W Project celebrates women working across the creative industries through a lively mixture of events and activities. We aim to promote empowering role-models and help build a better creative community for the future.
