Today our Words of Wisdom artwork comes from super talented artist Margot Bowman…Enjoy!
Describe a bit about yourself and your work?My name is Margot Bowman, I’m a 23-year-old artist from London. I work freelance as a creative director and illustrator. I like riding my bike, listening to Vybz Kartel and imagining new futures.
What are your words of wisdom and why?‘Honesty is the Best Policy’. It’s something my dad always said to me and I think looking around at the world we’re living in - all the mess we’ve been left in by previous generations - it’s something that we could use a lot more of.
Who is your role-model?It kind of depends. I try to surround myself with people I respect. All of my closest friends have elements about them which I try and look up to. I think those kinds of visceral role models are so important, because as well as seeing the things in these people that you respect, you also know that life can be complicated and a struggle for them, just like it is for you. I think that understanding of the complexity of heroes is so important - we don’t need any more hollow icons.
Upcoming projects?I’ve just finished my BT ArtBox, Talk To Me. And now I’m working on some stuff for Copenhagen Fashion Week, as well as my on going project Painted Truths.

Launched in 2011 by Teo Connor and Loren Platt on the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, the W Project celebrates women working across the creative industries through a lively mixture of events and activities. We aim to promote empowering role-models and help build a better creative community for the future.
