Today our Words of Wisdom artwork comes from Linda Brownlee…Enjoy!
Describe a bit about yourself and your work?
I’m Irish and I came to live in London 9 years ago to pursue photography. I like telling stories and I’m drawn to exploring social territory that is fairly unfamiliar to me.
My portrait, fashion, and documentary work feature regularly in publications such as Dazed, Nylon, the Guardian and Telegraph magazines. In recent years, my project work has been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, Host Gallery, the Nottingham Museum and Art Gallery, the Yinka Shonebare Space, and this July I will be part of the Photographers’ gallery ‘World in London’ exhibition.
What are your words of Wisdom and why?
‘Wonder’.To think or speculate curiously, to be filled with admiration, amazement, or awe; to marvel at, to doubt. If you feel wonder, you feel inspired, you question, you explore, and I believe that’s the point from which great things happen. It’s a good feeling.
Who is your role-model?
That changes on week basis! I photographed Peter Blake this week, and I think I want to be like him when I’m 79. He still parties, works hard, has several exhibitions going on in the next few months and has a great passion for life.
Upcoming Projects?
I’m working on a video piece about dance at the moment, its a new area for me, and it feels really good to be exploring a different medium. I’m hoping to have everything ready for an October screening, we shall see…
