Today our Words of Wisdom artwork comes from artist and vintage store owner Safia El-Dabi…enjoy!
Describe a bit about yourself and your work?I enjoy making big and colourful objects. I have little patience and don’t like waiting for anything to dry, so using materials which are ready and accessible to use are vital for me. I am really interested in different cultures and my work is definitely a reflection of that. I always describe it as traveling across the world, picking up objects and materials along the way.
What are your words of wisdom and why?‘Moisturise Daily’, because my mum does exactly this and looks amazing for it.
Who is your role-model?Walt Disney, he was rejected 302 times until he got a yes.
Upcoming projects?I am making some short films at the moment with the very talented Lana Salfiti for my vintage clothing store (Gingers Vintage) which is selling on ASOS. You can see the films and more at www.gingersvintage.com.
I’m also organising a trip to Sudan. My plan is to create an art exhibition out there based on getting to know my Sudanese family.
